A valid-looking group can still leave a thirteen-card rummy hand incomplete. Use a whole-hand check.
STEP 01
Begin with a pure sequence
Identify a consecutive same-suit group without a substitute joker in the standard learning model. Do not use a pair as a replacement for this requirement.
STEP 02
Check the second sequence
The common thirteen-card form needs another valid sequence. Then organise the remaining cards into valid sequences or sets under the chosen variant.
STEP 03
Count every card
For a teaching layout, try 4♥ 5♥ 6♥; 7♣ 8♣ 9♣; K♣ K♦ K♥; and 2♠ 3♠ 4♠ 5♠. The groups contain 3+3+3+4=13 cards. This example uses no jokers.
STEP 04
Read the room before declaring
Deck counts, joker handling, and finishing controls vary by format. Verify the room’s complete declaration requirements rather than copying a button sequence from another app.
